Zinplava(bezlotoxumab) and Vancocin (vancomycin) are used to treatClostridium difficileinfection(CDI).

Vancocin is also used to treat serious or severe infections caused by susceptible strains of甲氧西林-resistant (beta-lactam-resistant) staphylococci also known as MRSA. Vancomycin is indicated forpenicillin-allergic patients, for patients who cannot receive or who have failed to respond to other drugs, including the penicillins or cephalosporins, and for infections caused by vancomycin-susceptible organisms that are resistant to otherantimicrobialdrugs.

Zinplava and Vancocin belong to different drug classes. Zinplava is a humanmonoclonal antibodyand Vancocin is anantibiotic.

Side effectsof Zinplava that are different from Vancocin includenausea,fever, andheadache.

Side effects of Vancocin that are different from Zinplava include serious allergic reactions (anaphylactoid reactions) includinglow blood pressure,wheezing, indigestion,hives, anditching. Rapid infusion of Vancocin may also cause flushing of the upper body (called "redneck" or "red mansyndrome"),dizziness, lowblood pressure, andpainandmusclespasmof thechestand back.

Zinplava may interact with other drugs.

Vancocin may interact withanestheticagents and other potentiallyneurotoxicand/ornephrotoxic药物(如两性霉素B、氨基甙类抗生素,bacitracin,polymyxin B, colistin, viomycin, andcisplatin).

Common side effects of Zinplava include:

• nausea,
• fever, and
• headache.

Common side effects of Vancomycin include:

• serious allergic reactions (anaphylactoid reactions),

• wheezing,
• indigestion,
• hives, or
• itching.
• Rapid infusion of Vancomycin may also cause flushing of the upper body (called "red neck" or "red man syndrome"),
• dizziness,
• low blood pressure, or
• pain and muscle spasm of the chest and back.

Zinplava (bezlotoxumab) injection is a humanmonoclonalantibodythat binds toClostridium difficile(C. Diff.)toxinB, indicated to reducerecurrenceofClostridium difficileinfection (CDI)inpatients 18 years of age or older who are receivingantibacterialdrug treatment of CDI and are at a high risk for CDI recurrence.

Vancomycin is an antibiotic indicated for the treatment of serious or severe infections caused by susceptible strains of methicillin-resistant (beta-lactam-resistant) staphylococci. Vancomycin is indicated for penicillin-allergic patients, for patients who cannot receive or who have failed to respond to other drugs, including the penicillins or cephalosporins, and for infections caused by Vancomycin susceptible organisms that are resistant to other antimicrobial drugs.

Zinplava may interact with other drugs. Tell yourdoctorall medications and supplements you use. Tell your doctor if you arepregnantor plan to become pregnant before using Zinplava. It is unknown how it wouldaffectafetus. It is unknown if Zinplava passes intobreast milk. Consult your doctor beforebreastfeeding.

Vancomycin may interact with blood thinners orseizuremedications.

Vancomycin may also interact withcimetidine,lithium, or disulfiram.

The recommended dose of Zinplava is a single dose of 10mg/kg administered as anintravenousinfusion over 60 minutes.
