Vigamox(moxifloxacin hydrochlorideophthalmicsolution) andCipro(ciprofloxacin) are quinolone antibiotics used to treatbacterialinfections of theeye.

Cipro is also anoralmedicationused to treat infections of theskin,lungs, airways, bones, joints, andurinary tractinfections (UTIs) caused by susceptiblebacteria.

Side effectsof Vigamox and Cipro that are similar includeblurred vision.

Side effects of Vigamox that are different from Cipro include watery eyes (tearing) and eye reactions (pain, dryness, redness,itching, burning, stinging, and irritation).

Side effects of Cipro that are different from Vigamox includediarrhea,dizziness, drowsiness,headache,stomachupset,abdominal pain,nausea/vomiting, nervousness,anxiety, agitation,sleepproblems (insomniaor nightmares), andrash.

Vigamox may interact with other eye medications.

Cipro may interact with dairy products,caffeine,sucralfate,antacids(containingcalcium,magnesium, oraluminum, didanosine, lanthanum carbonate or sevelamer, certain vitamin or mineral supplements (containing calcium,iron, magnesium, orzinc),cyclosporine,methotrexate,metoclopramide,苯妥英, probenecid, ropinirole,sildenafil,theophylline,bloodthinners,diuretics(waterpills),heartrhythm medications,insulinor oraldiabetesmedicines, medicines to treatdepressionor mental illness, steroids, or nonsteroidalanti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Common side effects of Vigamox include:

• blurred vision,
• watery eyes (tearing), and
• eye (pain, dryness, redness, itching, burning, stinging, and irritation).

Serious side effects are not expected to occur during treatment with Vigamox. Tell yourdoctorif you have an unlikely but serious side effect of Vigamox such as swelling of the eye.

Common side effects of Cipro include:

• diarrhea
• dizziness
• drowsiness
• headache
• stomach upset
• abdominalpain
• nausea/vomiting
• blurred vision
• nervousness
• anxiety
• agitation
• sleep problems (insomnia or nightmares), and
• rash

Tell your doctor if you experience serious side effects of Cipro including severe dizziness,fainting, fast or pounding heartbeats; sudden pain, snapping or popping sound, bruising, swelling, tenderness, stiffness, or loss of movementinany of your joints; watery or bloody diarrhea; confusion, hallucinations, depression, unusual thoughts or behavior;seizure(convulsions); severe headache, ringing in your ears, pain behind your eyes; pale or yellow skin, dark coloredurine,fever, weakness; urinating less than usual or not at all; easy bruising or bleeding; numbness, tingling, or unusual pain anywhere in your body; the firstsignof any skin rash, no matter how mild; or severe skin reaction -- fever,sore throat, swelling in your face ortongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain, followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling.

Vigamox (moxifloxacin hydrochloride ophthalmic solution) is anantibioticused to treat bacterial infections of the eyes.

Cipro may interact withtizanidine, blood thinners,clozapine, cyclosporine, insulin or oral diabetes medications, methotrexate, metoclopramide, phenytoin, probenecid, ropinirole, tacrine, theophylline, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or oral steroids. Tell your doctor all medications you use. Duringpregnancy,Cipro XRshould be used only when prescribed. This medication passes intobreast milk. Consult your doctor beforebreastfeeding.

Do not use other eye drops or medications during treatment with Vigamox ophthalmic unless directed by your doctor. Other drugs may interact with Vigamox. Tell your doctor allprescriptionorover-the-countermedicines or supplements you use. Vigamox should be used only when prescribed during pregnancy. It is not known if this medication passes intobreastmilk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Cipro may interact with heart medications.

Cipro may also interact withallergytreatments (or if you are undergoing allergy skin-testing),amiodarone,clonidine,digoxin, disopyramide, guanabenz, MAO inhibitors, diabetes medications, medicine forasthmaor otherbreathingdisorders, cold medicines, stimulant medicines, or diet pills.

The dose of Vigamox: Instill one drop in the affected eye 3 times a day for 7 days.

Dosage of Cipro XR ranges from 500mgonce every 24 hours for 3 days for uncomplicated infections, to 1000 mg once every 24 hours for 7-14 days for complicated oracuteinfections.
