HOW DO SV2A LIGANDS WORK?

Synapticvesicleprotein 2A (SV2A) ligands are drugs used for treating different types of seizures. SV2A has been identified as the brain-binding site for seizure drugs.

SV2A ligands show high attraction to SV2A protein in the brain, which may contribute to its antiepileptic effect. This protein is present in almost all nerve cells. SV2A ligands bind to the SV2A protein to alter brain chemical release and facilitate inhibition of electrical impulse.
