Definition of Hypertonia

Hypertonia:Increased tightness ofmuscletone and reduced capacity of the muscle to stretch caused by damage to themotornervepathwaysinthecentral nervous system. Untreatedhypertoniacan lead to loss of function and deformity. Treatment can include physical and/or occupationaltherapyor medications.
