Hyperaldosteronism:Overproduction of thehormone醛固酮from the outer portion (cortex) of theadrenal glandor a tumor containing that type oftissue. Excess aldosterone (pronounced al-do-ster-one) resultsinlow potassium levels (hypokalemia), underacidity of the body (alkalosis),muscleweakness, excess thirst (polydipsia), excess urination (polyuria), and high blood pressure (hypertension). Also calledaldosteronismand Conn'ssyndrome.
