  • fainting,
  • symptoms of a high potassium blood level (such as muscle weakness, slow or irregular heartbeat),
  • signs of infection (such as fever, chills, persistentsorethroat),
  • unusual change in the amount of urine (not including the normal increase in urine when you first start this drug),
  • decrease in vision, or
  • eye pain.

What is Prinivil?

Prinivil(lisinopril) is a long-actingangiotensinconvertingenzyme(ACE) inhibitor used to treat hypertension,heartfailure, and supportive treatment in patients that suffer a myocardialinfarction(heart attack). Prinivil is available ingenericform.

Prinzide (lisinopril/hydrochlorothiazide) is a combination of an ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitor and a thiazide diuretic (water pill) used to treat hypertension (highblood pressure).

Prinivilmay also interact with gold injections,lithium, potassium supplements,saltsubstitutes that contain potassium,oralinsulinordiabetesmedications,aspirinor otherNSAIDs(non-steroidalanti-inflammatory drugs), ordiuretics(water pills).

What Drugs Interact With Prinzide?

Prinzide may interact with other diuretics or blood pressure medications, gold injections to treatarthritis, lithium, cholestyramine or colestipol, steroids, NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), insulin or oral diabetes medicines, cold orallergymedicine, sedatives, painmedication, muscle relaxers, and medicine for seizures,depressionoranxiety.

How Should Prinivil Be Taken?

Prinivilis available in doses of 5, 10, and 20mgtablets for oral use.Hypertensivepatients usually start with 10 mg once a day and are often increased to 20 mg. Patients withrenalfailure or are on diuretics start at lower doses such as 2.5 to 5 mg.

Heart attack and heart failure patients also start out with low doses of 5 mg one per day.

Prinivilis not recommended for use in children <6 years old or those that have aglomerularfiltration rate <30 mL per min;pediatricdoses are determined by weight.

How Should Prinzide Be Taken?

Each Prinzidetabletcontains 10 mg of lisinopril and 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide. Lisinopril is an effective treatment of hypertension in once-daily doses of 10-80 mg, while hydrochlorothiazide is effective in doses of 12.5-50 mg.
