Definition of Postoperative hemorrhage

Postoperative hemorrhage:Bleeding after a surgical procedure. Thehemorrhagemay occur immediately after thesurgeryor be delayed. It need not be restricted to the surgical wound. Common causes ofpostoperative hemorrhageare from tissues which cannot be entirely prevented from bleeding and depend onbloodclotting to stop the hemorrhage, problemsinthe normal clotting mechanism of blood, and clips or ties around blood vessels becoming loose.
