Ceftin (cefuroxime) is a cephalosporin antibiotic. Ceftin is available as ageneric drugand is prescribed to treat infections with susceptible bacteria including skin andmiddle earinfections,tonsillitis,throatinfections,laryngitis,bronchitis,pneumonia,urinary tractinfections, andgonorrhea.

Omnicef may interact with blood thinners, antibiotics,antidepressants, anti-malariamedications, medicine to prevent or treat nausea and vomiting, medicines to treatpsychiatricdisorders,migraine headachemedicines, nonsteroidalanti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), steroids, or narcotics.

Drug interactions with Ceftin includevaccines(for example,typhoidvaccine) and probenecid.

The recommended dose of Omnicef is 150mgevery 13 weeks administered bydeepintramuscular(IM) injection in theglutealordeltoidmuscle. Omnicef should not be used as a long-term birthcontrolmethod (longer than 2 years).

Ceftinoraldoserangein adults is from 125mg to 500mg twice daily for 7-10 days and dosage in children is usually weight based.
