What Is Stalevo?

Stalevo (carbidopa, levodopa and entacapone) is a combination of several medications used to treat Parkinson symptoms such as muscle stiffness, tremors, spasms, and poor musclecontrol. Levodopa is converted to a chemical calleddopaminein thebrain. Symptoms of Parkinson's disease may be caused by low levels dopamine in the brain. Carbidopa helps prevent the breakdown of levodopa before it can reach the brain and take effect. When used with carbidopa and levodopa, entacapone increases levels of levodopa in the body.

What Drugs Interact With Nourianz?

Nourianz may interact with itraconazole, ketoconazole, clarithromycin,carbamazepine, rifampin,phenytoin, St. John's wort, midazolam, atorvastatin, and digoxin. Nourianz is not recommended for use duringpregnancy; it may harm afetus. Women of childbearing potential are advised to use contraception during treatment with Nourianz. It is unknown if Nourianz passes intobreast milkor how it wouldaffectanursinginfant. Consult your doctor beforebreastfeeding.

The recommended dosage of Nourianz is 20mgorally once daily. The dosage may be increased to a maximum of 40 mg once daily.

The optimum daily dosage of Stalevo must be determined for eachpatient.Therapyshould be individualized and adjusted according to the desiredtherapeuticresponse.
