Micardis (telmisartan) is an angiotensin II receptorantagonistused to treat highblood pressure(hypertension). Micardis is sometimes given together with other blood pressure medications. Micardis is also used to reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, or death from heart problems in people who are at least 55 years old with risk factors for serious heart disorders.

Diovan (valsartan) is an angiotensin II receptor blocker used for the control of hypertension,heart failure, andpostheart attack. Diovan is available as ageneric.

Micardis may interact withdiuretics(waterpills), ordigoxin. Tell your doctor all medications you are taking.

Diovan may interact with diuretics (water pills) and oraspirinor other nonsteroidalanti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs）.代文也相互作用等等rifampin, ritonavir, orcyclosporine.

Dosage of Micardis is individualized. The usual starting dose is 40mgonce a day.

Diovan is available as tablets fororaladministration in strengths of 40, 80, 160 or 320 mg of valsartan. Usual beginning dose is a total of 80 mg per day, but this may vary. For children withpediatric高血压(年龄s 6–16), the dose is weight based at 1.3 mg per Kg weight not to exceed 40 mg per day. Diovan is not recommended for children under the age of 6 or in children with certainrenalproblems. Diovan may interact with cyclosporine, diuretics (water pills), rifampin, ritonavir, or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. Diovan is not recommended for use duringpregnancy; it may causeinjuryor death to afetuswhen the medicine is taken during the second or thirdtrimester. Talk to your doctor about use ofbirth controlwhile taking Diovan. It is unknown if Diovan passes intobreast milkor if it could harm anursingbaby.Breastfeedingwhile using Diovan is not recommended.
