Methicillin:A semisyntheticpenicillin-related抗生素, also known as Staphcillin, that once was effective against staphylococci (staph) resistant to penicillin because they produce theenzymepenicillinase. Rarely used now,米ethicillinhas been largely superceded byVancomycin. Over the past 50 years, staph细菌have become resistant to various antibiotics, including the commonly used penicillin-related antibiotics, including methicillin.
