Lamictal(lamotrigine) andTrileptal(oxcarbazepine) are antiepileptic drugs (AEDs), also called anticonvulsants, used alone orincombination with other antiseizure medications for treating certain types of seizures.

Lamictal may cause seriousside effects, including:

• dizziness,
• shaking (tremors),
• sleepiness,
• tiredfeeling,
• drowsiness,
• loss of coordination,
• headache,
• double vision,
• blurred vision,
• nausea,
• vomiting,
• upsetstomach,
• stomachpain,
• dry mouth,
• changes inmenstrualperiods,
• back pain,
• sore throat,
• runny nose, or
• sleepproblems (insomnia).

Serious side effects of Lamictal you should report to yourdoctorinclude:

• worseningdepressionorsuicidalthoughts, and
• flu-like symptoms such as body aches or swollen glands.

• trouble concentrating,
• trouble sleeping,
• shaking,
• acne,

• constipation, and
• problems with speech,balance, or walking.

Tell your doctor if you have serious side effects of Trileptal including:

• changes in vision,
• involuntaryeyemovements,
• difficulty speaking,
• difficulty concentrating,
• loss of coordination,
• trouble walking (abnormalgait),
• uncontrolledmusclemovements (tremor),
• dulledsenseof touch,
• easy bleeding or bruising,
• chest pain,
• persistentsorethroat,
• stomach orabdominal pain,
• bloodystool,
• darkurine,
• change in amount of urine, or
• yellowing of eyes or skin.

• alone or with other medicines to treat partial seizures in adults
• alone to treat partial seizures in children 4 years and older

Lamictal may interact withcarbamazepine,phenytoin,phenobarbital,primidone, orrifampin.

Lamictal may also interact with hormonal forms of birthcontrol(pills, injections, implants, or skin patches), divalproex, oxcarbazepine, orvalproic acid.

Trileptal may interact with carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, or valproic acid. Trileptal may also interactcyclosporine,felodipine, orverapamil.

Take Trileptal exactly as prescribed.

• Do not stop taking Trileptal without talking to your healthcare provider. Stopping Trileptal suddenly can cause serious problems, including seizures that will not stop (status epilepticus).
• Take Trileptal exactly as prescribed. Your healthcare provider may change your dose. Your healthcare provider will tell you how much Trileptal to take.
• Take Trileptal 2 times a day.
• Take Trileptal with or withoutfood.
• Before taking Trileptaloralsuspension shake the bottle well and use the oral dosingsyringethat comes with your oral suspension to measure the amount of medicine needed. Trileptal oral suspension can be mixed in a small glass ofwater, or swallowed directly from the syringe. Clean the syringe with warm water and let it dry after each use.
• If you take too much Trileptal, call your healthcare provider right away.
