Hyperkalemia:Elevatedpotassiumintheblood. Hyperkalemia can be caused by taking excessive amounts of potassium, by medications,tissuetrauma, and by diseases such as kidney failure. Hyperkalemia may not produce any symptoms, but severe hyperkalemia can lead to potentially fatal arrythmias of the heart.
