Entex T (guaifenesin and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride) is a combination of an expectorant and nasal decongestant used to help loosen phlegm (mucus) and thin bronchial secretions to rid the bronchial passageways of bothersome mucus and make coughs more productive; temporarily relieve nasal congestion due to common cold, hay fever, and upper respiratory allergies (allergic rhinitis); temporarily restores freer breathing through the nose; promote nasal and/or sinus drainage; and temporarily relieve sinus congestion and pressure. Common side effects of Entex T include:

  • dizziness,
  • nervousness,
  • excitability,
  • trouble sleeping (insomnia),
  • nausea, and
  • headache

The dose of Entex T for adults and children over 12 years of age is 1 tablet every 4 hours. The dose of Entex T for children 6 to under 12 years of age is ½ tablet every 4 hours. Entex T may interact with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), other decongestants tricyclic antidepressants, and some blood pressure medications. Tell your doctor all medications and supplements you use. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant before using Entex T. The pseudoephedrine in Entex T passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. It is unknown if guaifenesin passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Uses

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Directions

  • Do not exceed 4 doses in a 24 hour period
  • Adults and children 12 years of age and over: 1 tablet every 4 hours.
  • Children 6 to under 12 years of age: 1/2 tablet every 4 hours.
