Wellbutrin is a prescription medicine used to treat adults with a certain type of depression called major depressive disorder.

What Drugs Interact With Cymbalta?

Do Not take Cymbalta if you:

  • take a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor (MAOI). Ask your healthcare provider orpharmacistif you are not sure if you take anMAOI, including theantibioticlinezolidorintravenousmethylene blue.
  • Do not take an MAOI within 5 days of stopping Cymbalta unless directed to do so by your healthcare provider.
  • Do not start Cymbalta if you stopped taking an MAOI in the last 14 days unless directed to do so by your healthcare provider.

Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines that you take,including prescription andover-the-countermedicines,vitamins, andherbalsupplements. Cymbalta and some medicines may interact with each other, may not work as well, or may cause serious side effects.

What Drugs Interact With Wellbutrin?

Do not take Wellbutrin if you:

  • have or had aseizuredisorder orepilepsy.
  • are takingZyban(used to help people stop smoking) or any other medicines that contain bupropion hydrochloride, such asWellbutrin SRSustained-Release Tablets orWellbutrin XLExtended-Release Tablets. Bupropion is the same ingredient that is in Wellbutrin.
  • drink a lot ofalcoholand abruptly stop drinking, or use medicines called sedatives (these make you sleepy) orbenzodiazepinesand you stop using them all of a sudden.
  • have taken within the last 14 days medicine for depression called amonoamine oxidase inhibitor(MAOI), such asNardil(phenelzine sulfate),Parnate(tranylcypromine sulfate), orMarplan(isocarboxazid).
  • have or had an eating disorder such asanorexia nervosaorbulimia.
  • are allergic to the active ingredient in Wellbutrin, bupropion, or to any of the inactive ingredients. See the end of this leaflet for a complete list of ingredients in Wellbutrin.

How Should Cymbalta Be Taken?

Take Cymbalta exactly as your healthcare provider tells you to take it. Your healthcare provider may need to change the dose of Cymbalta until it is the right dose for you.

Swallow Cymbalta whole. Do not chew or crush Cymbalta.

Do not open thecapsuleand sprinkle onfoodor mix with liquids. Opening the capsule mayaffecthow well Cymbalta works.

Cymbalta may be taken with or without food.

If you miss a dose of Cymbalta, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not take two doses of Cymbalta at the same time.

If you take too much Cymbalta, call your healthcare provider orpoison control centerat 1-800-222-1222 right away, or get emergency treatment.

How Should Wellbutrin Be Taken?

Take Wellbutrin exactly as prescribed by yourdoctor.

  • Take Wellbutrin at the same time each day.
  • Take your doses of Wellbutrin at least 6 hours apart.
  • You may take Wellbutrin with or without food.
  • If you miss a dose, do not take an extratabletto make up for the dose you forgot. Wait and take your next tablet at the regular time. This is very important. Too much Wellbutrin can increase your chance of having a seizure.
  • If you take too much Wellbutrin, or overdose, call your local emergency room orpoisoncontrolcenter right away.
  • Do not take any other medicines while using Wellbutrin unless your doctor has told you it is okay.
  • It may take several weeks for you to feel that Wellbutrin is working. Once you feel better, it is important to keep taking Wellbutrin exactly as directed by your doctor. Call your doctor if you do not feel Wellbutrin is working for you.
  • Do not change your dose or stop taking Wellbutrin without talking with your doctor first.
