Mylanta

Aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide/simethicone is an over-the-counter (OTC) product used for indigestion/heartburn (dyspepsia) and abdominal bloating.

氢氧化铝/氢氧化镁/二甲基硅油is available under the following different brand names:Mylanta, Mygel, DiGel, Gelusil, and Rulox.

Liquid

• (200mg/200mg/20mg)/5mL
• (400mg/400mg/40mg)/5mL

Suspension

• (225毫克/ 200毫克/ 25毫克)/ 5毫升

Dosage Considerations – Should be Given as Follows:

Dyspepsia, Abdominal Bloating

• 10-20 mL orally every 4-6 hours taken 1 hour before or 3 hours after meals, OR
• Chew 2-4 tablets every 4-6 hours; not to exceed 12 tablets/24 hours
• Safety and efficacy not established in pediatric patients

Common side effects of Aluminum Hydroxide/Magnesium Hydroxide/Simethicone include:

Aluminum hydroxide

• Chalky taste
• Constipation
• Fecal impaction
• Stomach cramps
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Rebound hyperacidity
• Aluminum intoxication
• Low blood phosphate (hypophosphatemia)
• Milk-alkali syndrome
• Softening of bones

Magnesium hydroxide

• Diarrhea
• High blood magnesium (hypermagnesemia)

Simethicone

• Loose stools

• Severe interactions ofAcetaminophen Dextromethorphan Phenylephrineinclude:
  • pazopanib
  • raltegravir

• 氢氧化铝/氢氧化镁/二甲基硅油has moderate interactions with at least 128 different drugs.

Warnings

This medication contains aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide/simethicone. Do not take Mylanta, Mygel, DiGel, Gelusil, or Rulox if you are allergic to aluminum hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide/simethicone or any ingredients contained in this drug.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation

Cautions

• Caution in renal failure
• May increase or decrease rate and/or degree of absorption of concomitantly administered oral drugs by changinggastrointestinal(GI) transit time or by binding the drug
• Magnesium-restricted diet
• Similar trade names may have different compositions
• Do not use combination product forhyperphosphatemia

Pregnancy and Lactation

使用氢氧化/增效esium hydroxide/simethicone with caution during pregnancy if benefits outweigh risks. Animal studies show risk and human studies are not available or neither animal nor human studies were done.

It is unknown if hydroxide/magnesium hydroxide/simethicone is excreted in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
