Tell yourdoctorif you experience serious side effects of Aricept includingpainful urination, seizures,chest pain, andGIsymptoms of tarry or bloody stools and vomitingbloodor material that resembles "coffee grounds."

Aricept (donepezil hydrochloride) is a cholinesterase inhibitor that reduces or preventsacetylcholinebreakdown inbraintissue. Aricept is used to treat mild to moderate dementia like that found in patients with Alzheimer'sdisease. Aricept is not acure; it reduces symptoms.

Razadyne ER (galantamine hydrobromide) is a cholinesterase inhibitor that works by restoring thebalanceof certain natural substances (neurotransmitters) in the brain used to treat mild to moderate dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease.

Aricept may interact with many drugs; tell thephysicianif you have a history ofbreathingproblems,heart disease, fainting, seizures, GI diseases orurinaryproblems because they may get worst with this drug. Aricept is not recommended for use inpregnantorbreastfeedingwomen. Aricept safety and effectiveness has not been studied in thepediatricpopulation.

Razadyne ER may interact withatropine,belladonna, clidinium,dicyclomine,glycopyrrolate, hyoscyamine,ketoconazole, mepenzolate, methantheline, methscopolamine,paroxetine, propantheline, orscopolamine.

Aricept (donepezil hydrochloride) is available fororaladministration infilm-coated tablets in doses of 5, 10, or 23mgof donepezil hydrochloride.

The recommended starting dose of Razadyne ER is 8 mg/day. The dose should be increased to the initial maintenance dose of 16 mg/day after a minimum of 4 weeks. A further increase to 24 mg/day should be attempted after a minimum of 4 weeks at 16 mg/day.
