Appendicitis:Inflammationof the appendix, usually associated withinfectionof theappendix.Appendicitisoften causes fever, loss of appetite, and pain.Appendicitismay be suspected because of the病史and physical examination. Thepainof appendicitis can be locatedinvarious areas of thebelly. If the appendix ruptures and infection spreads throughout theabdomen, the pain becomes widespread as the entire lining of the abdomen becomes inflamed. Ultrasonography and computerized tomography may be helpful indiagnosis.
